Ingredients
Rice
- Medium grain white rice ("Calrose" works best)
- Louisana hot sauce
- Chicken broth (DO NOT USE STOCK)
Sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup "Tamari" soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- 3 cloves minced garlic, fresh
Meat
- 1lb ground sausage
Toppings
- 2 green onions, sliice thin
- White sesame seeds
Directions
- Cook around 2 cups of uncooked rice. Easiest with a rice cooker; generally you want about enough to fill two bowls worth of rice. Use the chicken broth instead of water, and add enough Louisiana for the rice to turn a little pink when it's done.
- Mix all of the ingredients from the "sauce" section in a container that's easy to pour from.
- When the rice is done, brown the sausage in a pan on medium-high. (If you've made taco meat before, this is roughly the same process)
- Once the sausage has been browned, add the sauce to the pan. Be sure to mix it around.
- Cook the sausage/sauce mixture until the sauce reduces. It won't reduce all the way, but it'll get close— mainly pay enough attention to be sure you don't burn it.
- Serve. Generally, put it together in this order: Rice (75%)→ Sausage (25%)→ Seeds (Sprinkled)→ Green Onion
Serves roughly two people. Maybe three.
